Breadwinner versus Caretaker – paternal role on a crossroad

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zaobírá tématem otce v rodině, přesněji jeho živitelskou a vychovatelskou rolí. Práce je teoreticko-empirického charakteru a využívá kvalitativního výzkumu. Pro sběr dat byla použita metoda polostrukturovaného rozhovoru. K získání výsledných dat posloužila analýza textu pomocí kódování. Cílem této práce bylo zjistit, jak muži vnímají svou roli v rodině. Teoretická část práce seznamuje čtenáře s pojmem rodina, jejími funkcemi i proměnou, která nastala v posledních několika desetiletích. Popisuje i rozdělení rolí s bližším zaměřením na role matky a otce.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the topic of father of the family, to be more precise his breadwinner and caretaker role. The thesis has theoretical-empirical character and it makes use of qualitative research. The method of half-structured interview was used for the collection of data. We used analysis of the text using coding for obtaining results. The aim of this thesis was to study how men perceive their role in the family. The theoretical part of the thesis introduces the concept of family, its functions and change over time. It also describes the roles of mother and father.
