Temporal and spatial variability of heat stress of Brno dwellers

Abstract:

Diplomová práce zkoumá časovou a prostorovou variabilitu tepelného stresu, který obyvatelé města Brna zažívali v období 2010–2020. Cílem bylo představit používání bioklimatologických indexů, jejichž aplikace je vhodná pro městský prostor a pro letní hodnoty teploty a relativní vlhkosti vzduchu. V praktické části byla pomocí Humidexu a indexu relativní zátěže zjištěna míra tepelného stresu na městských i mimoměstských stanicích v rámci účelové sítě stanic v Brně pro studované období. Teplotně-vlhkostní ukazatele se využívají k vypočítání tepelné zátěže na celém světě. Studie zhodnotila, že podle obou indexů byl nejméně příznivý rok 2015. Menší stres, ale stále velmi silný, se projevil v roce 2013. Bioklimatologicky příznivým rokem byl 2016. Nejrizikovější stanicí je Biskupství vyznačující se nejvyšším podílem okolní zástavby. Vysoké hodnoty tepelného stresu měla oproti ostatním stanicím i Židenice. Stanice Jundrov byla vyhodnocena jako nejvíce přívětivá z hlediska tepelné zátěže lidského organismu.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis examines the temporal and spatial variability of heat stress that dwellers of the city of Brno experienced in the period 2010–2020. The aim was to present the use of bioclimatological indices, the application of which is suitable for urban space and for summer values of temperature and relative humidity. In the practical part, the using of Humidex and relative strain index was determined the rate of heat stress at urban and suburban stations within the specific network of stations in Brno for the studied period. Temperature-humidity indicators are used to calculate the heat load all around the world. The study assessed that according to both indices, the least favourable year was 2015. In 2013 was less stress, but still very strong. The bioclimatologically favourable year was 2016. The most dangerous station is the Biskupství, which has the highest share of surrounding buildings. Compared to other stations, Židenice had high values of heat stress. Jundrov station was evaluated as the most favourable in terms of heat load of the human body.
