The use of hypofractionated radiotherapy in the treatment of mediastinal and retroperitoneal metastases

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou oligometastatického postižení lymfatických uzlin a využitím stereotaktické radioterapie při léčbě těchto metastáz. Práce je rozdělena na dvě části - teoretickou a praktickou. Teoretická část přináší informace o onkologické léčbě se zaměřením na radioterapii. Samostatná kapitola je věnována stereotaktické radioterapii. Je popsána její historie, biologické výhody, princip, používané přístroje, indikace, dávky záření a možné nežádoucí účinky léčby. Zvláštní kapitola je věnována i oligometastatickému onemocnění. V praktické části práce je vyhodnocen soubor pacientů léčených technikou SBRT pro metastatické postižení lymfatických uzlin lokalizovaných zejména v oblasti retroperitonea a mediastina na Klinice radiační onkologie Masarykova onkologického ústavu v Brně. K vyhodnocení jsou použity základní statistické metody.

Abstract:

This Bachelor's thesis deals with the problems of oligometastatic lymph node metastases and the use of stereotactic radiotherapy in the treatment of these metastases. The thesis is divided into two parts - theoretical and practical. The theoretical part provides information about treatment for cancer with a focus on radiotherapy. A separate chapter deals with stereotactic radiotherapy and its history, biological advantages, principles, used devices, indications, doses and possible side effects of treatment. A special chapter covers with oligometastatic disease. In the practical part of the thesis there is a group of patients evaluated. These patients were treated with SBRT for lymph node metastases localized mainly in the region of retroperitoneum and mediastinum, they were treated in the Clinic of Radiation Oncology in Masaryk Memorial Cancer Institute Brno. The basic statistical methods were used for evaluation.
