The future of the industrial heritage of the town of Frýdek-Místek

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá budoucností průmyslového dědictví města Frýdku-Místku v podobě bývalých textilních areálů Slezanu s historií sahající až do 19. století, které v současnosti představují v rámci prostorové struktury města neefektivně využívané brownfields s potenciálem pro rozvoj veřejného prostoru města a jeho socioekonomického stavu. V teoretické části práce jsou popsány hodnoty a možnosti ochrany průmyslového dědictví a jsou zde také nastíněny historické příčiny tvorby brownfields, jejich typologie a možné bariéry jejich znovuvyužití. V empirické části práce jsou popsány historické příčiny postupné přeměny funkčních areálů Slezanu do podoby brownfields a v rámci poznatků ze semistrukturovaných rozhovorů s aktéry města a desk research výzkumu je u jednotlivých areálů Slezanu Holding a.s. popsán jejich současný stav, činnosti subjektů v rámci jejich znovuvyužití a je zde vylíčena také potencionální budoucnost areálů v rámci návrhů na jejich budoucí efektivní znovuvyužití s nastíněnými možnými bariérami, které mohou tyto plány a vize do budoucna značně zkomplikovat.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the future of the industrial heritage of Frýdek-Místek in the form of former textile areas of Silesia with a history dating back to the 19th century, which currently represent inefficiently used brownfields within the spatial structure of the city. The theoretical part of the thesis describes the values and possibilities of industrial heritage protection and it also outlines the historical causes of brownfields, their typology and possible barriers to their reuse. The empirical part of the thesis describes the historical causes of the gradual transformation of the functional areas of Slezan into brownfields, and within the findings of semi-structured interviews with city agents it shows the current state of the individual areas of Slezan Holding a.s., activities of subjects within their reuse and also describes the potential future of the premises within the proposals for their future effective reuse with outlined possible barriers that may significantly complicate these plans and visions in the future.
