Phylogeny and biogeography of European lizards of the genus Lacerta and Zootoca

Abstract:

Rody Lacerta a Zootoca, patří do čeledi Lacertidae a do řádu Squamata. Zájmovými druhy obou těchto rodů jsou Lacerta agilis (ještěrka obecná) a Zootoca vivipara (ještěrka živorodá). Oba tyto druhy jsou typickými zástupci ještěrkovitých na většině území Eurasie včetně území Česka. Areály rozšíření obou taxonů se na mnoha místech stýkají v sympatrických zónách. V určitých aspektech dochází k mezidruhové konkurenci s negativními dopady na ještěrku živorodou. Taxonomie a systematika poddruhů ještěrky obecné a ještěrky živorodé není zcela uzavřena. Většina autorů se přiklání k oddělení Lacerta agilis boemica a vytvoření samostatného druhu. U ještěrky živorodé je u jednotlivých skupin ne zcela přesně popsán jejich původ. Rešeršní práce poukazuje také na potřebu se ještě hlouběji věnovat vztahům mezi jednotlivými poddruhy jednotlivých druhů a také vztahům mezi oběma druhy.

Abstract:

The genus Lacerta and Zootoca belongs to the family Lacertidae, the order Squamata. The species of interest in this Thesis from the two genera are Lacerta agilis (the sand lizard) and Zootoca vivipara (the common lizard). Both of these species are typical representatives of the family in the most of Eurasia, including the territory of Czechia. The species distribution range of the two taxa meets in sympatric zones in many places. In certain aspects, interspecies competition negatively impacts on the common lizard. The taxonomy and systematics of the subspecies of the sand lizard and the common lizard is not fully resolved. For example, someauthors supportsseparation of Lacerta agilis boemica as a separate species. In the case of the common lizard, the origin of each group is not fully solved. The Thesis also points to the need to pay even more attention to the relationships on a subspecies level and also to interactions between both species.
