Terrorism and extremism in Scandinavia in the 21st century

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se za využití vědecké metody komparativní případové studie zabývá analýzou teroristických útoků spáchaných na území Skandinávie ve 21. století. Práce charakterizuje události, jež předznamenaly série útoků společně s jejich vzájemnými vazbami a potenciálními spouštěcími mechanismy. Práce je koncipována do třech hlavních částí. V úvodní části se věnuje teoretickému vymezení klíčových pojmů, v předmětné části práce jsou podrobeny zkoumání příčiny teroristických útoků, útoky samotné a jejich určitá provázanost. Závěrečná část se zabývá následnou situací ve zkoumaných zemích po útocích. Cílem práce je poskytnout hlubší vhled do dynamiky a kontextu těchto událostí se záměrem lepšího porozumění jejich povahy a možných strategií prevence.

Abstract:

Using the scientific method of comparative case study, this bachelor thesis analyses terrorist attacks committed in Scandinavia in the 21st century. The thesis characterizes the events that preceded the series of attacks together with their interconnections and potential triggering mechanisms. The thesis is structured in three main parts. In the introductory part, the key theoretical concepts are defined, while the subject part of the thesis examines the causes of terrorist attacks, the attacks themselves and their particular interconnectedness. The final part deals with the subsequent situation in the countries under study after the attacks. The thesis aims to provide a deeper insight into the dynamics and context of these events with the intention of better understanding their nature and possible prevention strategies.
