Motivations and social pressures associated with alcohol consumption

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce zkoumá motivaci a sociální tlaky, které vedou ke konzumaci alkoholu u vysokoškolských studentů v České republice. Cílem tohoto výzkumu bylo prozkoumat, jak různé psychosociální faktory ovlivňují nebo souvisí s chováním spojeným s konzumací alkoholu. Teoretická část práce se zaměřuje na prozkoumání konzumace alkoholu, motivací spojenou s konzumací alkoholu, sociálními tlaky a s tím spojenou stigmatizací. Studie byla zrealizována prostřednictvím kvantitativního výzkumného designu s použitím dotazníkového šetření, při kterém byly využity dotazníky DMQR, DRSEQR, BFI-2-S, AUDIT a dotazník vlastní konstrukce, který se zabýval sociálním tlakem ke konzumaci alkoholu. Data byla zkoumána prostřednictvím neparametrické korelační analýzy a exploračního výzkumu s použitím kontingenčních tabulek, neparametrického Kruskal-Wallisova a Friedmanova testu. Celkem se výzkumu zúčastnilo 237 respondentů. Z výsledků bylo zjištěno, že konzumaci alkoholu silně ovlivňují sociální tlaky a vnitřní motivace. Motivace ke konzumaci zahrnuje jak sociální aspekty, tak individuální faktory, které se vzájemně ovlivňují. Celkově výsledky této práce předkládají komplexní porozumění fenoménu konzumace alkoholu.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis examines the motivations and social pressures associated with alcohol consumption among university students in the Czech Republic. The aim of the research was to investigate how different psychosocial factors relate to alcohol consumption and influence it. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on examining alcohol consumption and associated motivations, social pressures and stigmatization . The study was conducted as a quantitative research design with the use of questionnaire surveys, including the DMQR, DRSEQR, BFI-2-S, AUDIT questionnaires, and a self-constructed questionnaire addressing social pressure to consume alcohol. The data was analysed using non-parametric correlation analysis and exploratory research utilizing contingency tables, the non-parametric Kruskal-Wallis and Friedman tests. A total of 237 respondents participated in the research. The results revealed that alcohol consumption is strongly influenced by social pressures and internal motivation. Motivation for consumption includes both social aspects and individual factors, which mutually influence each other. Overall, the results of this work present a comprehensive understanding of the phenomenon of alcohol consumption.
