Vertical surfaces and their potential in urban landscape from the perspective of garden and landscape architecture

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se věnuje vertikálním plochám a jejich potenciálu v městské krajině z pohledu zahradní a krajinářské architektury. Práce je rozdělena na část teoretickou, návrhovou a návrhovou. Teoretická část práce se zaobírá problematikou využití vertikálních ploch ve městě, jejich možnostmi založení a porovnání pozitiv a negativ mezi nimi. Práce pojednává především o využití popínavých rostlin při stavbě vertikálních stěn a o použití rostlin v pěstebních systémech při tvorbě vertikálních zahrad. Použití vertikálních ploch v České republice i v zahraničí demonstruje několik vybraných referenčních příkladů. Obsahem části návrhové je vypracování analýz, které obeznámí autora s územím a problémy které na něm jsou. Analýzy vyhotoveny přímo v terénu byly návodem pro vypracování architektonické studie. Během procesu navrhování analýzy sloužily jako odpovědi na otázky, které se během celého procesu objevovaly. Architektonická studie respektuje východiska z analýz a seznamuje čitatele s obnovou Náměstí Karla IV. v Mělníku.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with vertical surfaces and their potential in urban landscape from the perspective of landscape architecture. The tesis is divided into theoretical and design part. The theoretical part deals with the uses of vertical surfaces in the city, their possibilities of estabilishing and comparing the positives and negatives between them. The work deals mainly with the uses of climbing plants in the construction of vertical walls and the uses of plants in growing systems in the creation of vertical gardens. The use of vertical gardens in the Czech Republic and abroad demonstrates several reference examples. The content of the design part is the elaboration of analyzes, that will familiarize the author with the territory and problems that are in it. Field-based analyzes have been a guideline for developing an architectural study. During the projecting process, the analysis served as the answers to questions that appeared throughout the proces. The architectural study respects the bases of the analyzes and introduces the reader to the restoration of Charles IV. Square in Mělník.
