Factors of tax evasion in selected EU countries

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se věnuje neustále velmi aktuální problematice daňových úniků. Hlavním cílem práce je analyzovat vliv vybraných faktorů na ochotu ospravedlňovat podvádění na daních v zemích Visegradské čtyřky. První část práce se věnuje charakteristice daňových úniků, představuje některá opatření proti nim a způsoby měření, respektive odhadování jejich velikosti. Dále se práce zabývá oblastí šedé ekonomiky a jejími determinanty, s níž daňové úniky úzce souvisí. V neposlední řadě se práce věnuje pojmu daňová morálka. V praktické části práce je proveden korelační výzkum. Analyzovaná data pochází z rozsáhlého průzkumu European Values Study 2017. Pomocí chí-kvadrát testu nezávislosti v kontingenční tabulce je v diplomové práci analyzována závislost ochoty ospravedlňovat podvádění na daních, která reprezentuje daňovou morálku jedince, na vybraných faktorech. Zvoleny byly následující faktory: země rezidence, pohlaví, náboženství a spokojenost s politickým systémem v zemi.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis is devoted to constantly topical issue of tax evasion. The main objective of this thesis is to analyze the influence of selected factors on the willingness to justify cheating on taxes in Visegrad Countries. The first part of this thesis deals with the characteristics of tax evasion, presents some measures against them and methods of measuring or better estimating their size. Furthermore, the thesis deals with the area of gray economy and its determinants, which is closely connected with tax evasion. Last but not least, the thesis deals with the concept of tax morale. In the practical part of the diploma thesis is performed correlation research. The analyzed data is from an extensive survey European Values Study 2017. Using the chi-square test of independence in the contingency table, the diploma thesis analyzes the dependence of the willingness to justify cheating on tax, which represents the tax morale of an individual, on selected factors. The following factors were chosen country of residence, gender, religion and satisfaction with the political system in the country.
