Overweight and obesity in adolescents with chronic illness

Abstract:

Cíl: cílem průzkumu zjistit výskyt nadváhy a obezity u dospívajících s chronickým onemocněním. Dílčími cíli: zjistit, zda jsou rozdíly mezi pohlavími, zjistit jaká onemocnění se vyskytují u dospívajících dětí s nadváhou a obezitou, zjistit jaká tělesná hmotnost se u dětí vyskytuje. Metodika: sběr dat z lékařské dokumentace za období 3 ? 5 let. Zkoumaný soubor 85 dospívajících dětí. Šetření probíhalo od 1. 3. do 31. 3. 2013. Výsledky: S nadváhou a obezitou vzniká metabolický syndrom, který zatěžuje organismus dospívajících dítěte. Našli jsme rozdíl mezi dívky a chlapci u kterých byl větší podíl nadváhy a obezity než u děvčat. Rozdílná byla tělesná hmotnost a tělesná výška u chlapců a dívek ve dvou skupinách. Dospívající chlapci jsou v průměru vyšší a hmotnostně těžší než dospívající děvčata. Rozdíl se našel v položce BMI, ve skupině 11 ? 14 let, měli chlapci větší BMI než děvčata a ve druhé skupině 15 ? 18 let, měly dívky větší hodnotu než chlapci. Dále jsme našli rozdíly mezi dospívajícími dívkami a chlapci a to v dg. onemocnění při přijetí k hospitalizaci. Poslední položkou místo pobytu, byly rozdíly nalezeny, kde dospívající děti nejvíce bydlí a to ve městech než na vesnici. Závěr: Návrhem pro řešení této problematiky by měla být výchova dítěte v rodinách a tím upevňovat návyky ve stravování již od útlého dětství s podporou školních zařízení ve výchově k návykům stravování.

Abstract:

Objective: The main objective of the research was to assess the prevalence of overweight and obesity in adolescents with chronic disease. Additional objectives include: to determine whether there are differences between sexes and also to find out which diseases occur in adolescents with overweight or obesity and to determine children body weight. Methodology: Data was collected from the medical records within the period from 3 to 5 years. The research sample includes 85 adolescents. The research was conducted from the 1st to 31th March 2013. Results: Overweight and obesity are closely associated with metabolic syndrome that badly affects organism of adolescents. In the research we reported significant difference of overweight between girls and boys while in boys a higher proportion of overweight and obesity was described than in girls. There was also a difference in body weight and height in boys and girls in the two groups. Adolescent boys are on average taller and heavier than adolescent girls. Another difference was reported in the BMI, in the group of children aged between 11 and 14, boys had higher BMI than girls, but in the second group of children aged between 15 and 18, girls had higher value of BMI than boys. Furthermore, a variety in diagnoses during admission to hospitalization was described. The last question concerns the place of living; the majority of teenagers live in the cities. Conclusion: Proposal to solving the issue is to strengthen dietary habits from early childhood within children?s upbringing in the families supported by school facilities.
