Education of seniors in the context of quality of life

Abstract:

Magisterská diplomová práce se svým tématem zaměřuje na vzdělávání seniorů v kontextu kvality života, konkrétně pak na seniory, kteří se vzdělávají na univerzitách třetího věku, přičemž cílem práce je zjistit a popsat, jak tito senioři vnímají své studium a kvalitu života. Práce je členěna na teoretickou a empirickou část. V teoretické části nalezneme tři kapitoly, ve kterých se zabýváme vymezením základních pojmů práce. V první kapitole jsou obsaženy informace o seniorském věku a jeho specifika, také je zde popsán současný stav seniorů v České republice. Druhá kapitola se zabývá vzděláváním seniorů. V této kapitole nalezneme výčet institucí, ve kterých se senioři mohou vzdělávat, přičemž hlavní pozici zde mají univerzity třetího věku. V poslední kapitole teoretické části je prostor věnován pojmu kvalita života a dále se zaměřuje na kvalitu života seniorů. V empirické části jsou popsány jednotlivé fáze výzkumného šetření a hlavní prostor zde mají výsledky výzkumného šetření. Výzkum této práce probíhal prostřednictvím polostrukturovaných rozhovorů s dohromady osmi respondenty seniorského věku, kteří se aktivně vzdělávají na univerzitě třetího věku.

Abstract:

The master´s thesis focuses on the education of seniors in the context of quality of life, specifically on seniors who are educating at universities of the third age, and the aim of this thesis is to find out how these seniors perceive their studies and quality of life. The thesis is divided into theoretical and empirical part. In the theoretical part there are three chapters. In these chapters we are focusing on the definition of the basic concepts of work. The first chapter contains information about senior age and it´s specifics, also there is described the current state of seniors in the Czech Republic. The second chapter deals with the education of seniors, which also has its own specifics. In this chapter we will find a list of institutions in which seniors can be educated, with universities of the third age being the main ones. In the last chapter of the theoretical part, the scope is devoted to the concept of quality of life and further focuses on the quality of life of seniors. In the empirical part are described the individual phases of the research and the main topic here is the results of the research. The research of this work was carried out by means of semi-structured interviews with eight senior respondents who actively study at the University of the Third Age.
