On the computer simulations of the dynamics of nuclear reactor control assemblies

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá matematickým modelováním a dynamickou analýzou regulačních orgánů široce využívaných tlakovodních jaderných reaktorů typu VVER 440 a VVER 1000. Tyto regulační orgány mají různou konstrukci, ale základním principem je pohonem řízené zasouvání regulačních tyčí složených z materiálů pohlcujících neutrony, které se pohybují ve vodě uvnitř vodicích trubek. Cílem matematického modelu je simulovat pád regulačního orgánu do aktivní zóny reaktoru, který má zastavit štěpnou řetězovou reakci. Představen je zjednodušený model regulačního orgánu reaktoru typu VVER 440/V213, který slouží k základním dynamickým analýzám. Dále jsou ukázány výsledky simulací pádu komplexnějšího modelu regulačního orgánu vytvořeného v programu MSC.ADAMS. Pro vytvoření matematického modelu absorpčního proutku reaktoru VVER 1000 je použita moderní absolute nodal coordinate formulation metoda. Nakonec je popsáno možné využití těchto modelů při posuzování bezpečnosti jaderných zařízení.

Abstract:

This master thesis is focused on the modelling and dynamic analysis of the control assemblies of widely used pressurized water-cooled and water-moderated nuclear reactors of VVER 440 type and VVER 1000 type. These control assemblies have a different structure with various design elements, but they are commonly based on a certain engine driving a control rod composed of absorbers and fuel rods. The control rods move through some guide and safety structures in pressurized water. The goal of numerical simulations is modelling of emergency states when the control assembly has to drop down to the lower position and it should cause the stop of a chain nuclear reaction in a core. A simple rigid body model of the VVER 440/V213 control assembly intended for basic dynamic analyses is introduced. Then complex multibody model made in MSC.ADAMS software is shown. The absolute nodal coordinate formulation method is described and is used to create a model of a control rod of a VVER 1000 reactor. At the end the usage of those models in nuclear power plant safety issues is discussed.
