Pepper Supply Chain in Vietnam

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis analyses the development of Vietnam’s pepper supply chain during the period 2000–2024, with a particular focus on pepper production and export performance. The study examines the relationship between domestic production capacity and the export performance of Vietnam’s pepper sector, considering both export quantity and export value. The analysis is based on descriptive statistics, index analysis, and regression analysis using time series data. The results show that pepper production in Vietnam increased considerably during the analysed period, mainly due to the expansion of cultivated area and improvements in yield. The empirical analysis confirms that both cultivated area and yield have a significant influence on total pepper production. Furthermore, the findings indicate that changes in production are closely related to developments in export quantity and export value, highlighting the important role of domestic production capacity in shaping Vietnam’s pepper export performance.
