Personality and cyberbullying at selected Grammar schools in Košice and Ostrava

Abstract:

The main aim of this bachelor thesis is the issue of cyberbullying and studying personality traits of cyberbullying participants at selected grammar schools in Kosice and Ostrava. It is also the objective of studying the relationship between cyberbullying and personality traits. The thesis is divided into two parts: theoretical and practical. Theoretical part focuses on teens using new media, information and communication technologies and internet, and certain risks linked to this usage. One of the risks is cyberbullying, media of its spreading and expressions involved in it. We pay attention to development of cyberbullying from defining aggression, through traditional school bullying to the bullying on the internet. Also mentioning legislation related to this risky phenomenon in cyberspace and the importance of prevention. The second section consists of research, analysis and interpretation of research findings in the issue of relationship between personality and cyberbullying among students of selected grammar schools in Kosice and Ostrava. We found that there is a relationship between cyberbullying and individual personality traits, as well as differences in personality traits of those who have been victims or aggressors of cyberbullying and those who have not.

Abstract:

Hlavnou témou tejto bakalárskej práce je problematika kyberšikany a skúmanie osobnostných faktorov účastníkov kyberšikany na vybraných gymnáziách v Košiciach a Ostrave. Rovnako je cieľom skúmať vzťah medzi kyberšikanou a osobnostnými faktormi. Práca je rozdelená na dve časti: teoretickú a praktickú. Teoretická časť sa zameriava na používanie nových médií, informačno-komunikačných technológií a internetu dospievajúcimi a s tým spojené určité riziká. Jedným z rizík je práve kyberšikana a s ňou spojené médiá šírenia a prejavy. V práci sa venujeme jej vývoju od zadefinovania agresie, cez klasickú školskú šikanu až k šikane na internete. Spomíname aj legislatívu spojenú s týmto rizikovým javom v kyberpriestore a dôležitosť prevencie. Druhú časť práce tvorí výskum, analýza a interpretácia výskumných zistení v problematike vzťahu osobnosti a kyberšikany u študentov vybraných gymnázií v Košiciach a Ostrave. Výskumom sme zistili, že existujú vzťahy medzi kyberšikanou a jednotlivými osobnostnými faktormi, rovnako aj rozdiely v osobnostných faktoroch tých, ktorí sa stali obeťami alebo agresormi kyberšikany a tých, ktorí sa nimi nestali.
