The Golden Age of the film An Andalusian Dog

Abstract:

Má bakalářská práce se pokouší o zpracování dvou prvotně surrealistických filmových děl. Jsou to konkrétně práce z let 1929 (Andaluský pes) a 1930 (Zlatý věk), kdy dochází ke kooperaci režiséra Luise Buňuela a populárního malíře Salvatora Dalího. Obě díla jsou označována za „surrealistické filmy“, přičemž se jedná zejména o pokus aplikovat praktiky tohoto „prokletého umění“ na kinematografickou oblast a zůstat při tom stále věrni tendenci hnutí neustále šokovat. V práci se pokouším nastínit kulturně – společenskou situaci a okolnosti vzniku obou snímků. Neméně zajímavý je ovšem přístup surrealistického hnutí a názor veřejnosti po samotném uvedení.

Abstract:

My bachelor diploma paper is trying to deal with two of the first cinematic surrealistic works. These are dated in 1929 (An Andalusian Dog) and 1930 (The Golden Age). There is a co-operation between director named Luis Buñuel and popular painter named Salvador Dalí in that time. Both works are called „surrealistic movies“, meanwhile there is an experiment to practice those surrealistic movements on the cinematic branch and by the way be shocking as the surrealism is. In this work I am trying to sketch out a culturally – political situation and circumstances of the birth of this movies. What I have also found interesting is an attitude of surrealistic movement and the meaning of the public.
