Relationship between Temperament an Play Preferences in Nursery-Aged Children

Abstract:

Vztah temperamentu a preference her u dětí ve školkovém věku Cílem této práce je zjistit vztah mezi temperamentem a preferencí her u dětí ve školkovém věku. Dalším cílem bylo zjistit, zda existují rozdíly mezi hrou chlapců a děvčat, a zda existuje vztah mezi stabilitou hry a temperamentem. Výzkumný vzorek se skládal ze dvaceti dívek a dvaceti chlapců ve věku od 44 do 88 měsíců. Temperament byl zjišťován pozorováním a hodnocením na škálách vyňatých z dotazníku Busse a Plomina EAS. Stejné posuzovací škály vyplňovaly i vychovatelky a rodiče. Hodnocení rodičů bylo posléze vyloučeno pro nízkou validitu. Faktorovou analýzou byly na základě hodnocení psychology zjištěny čtyři faktory: afiliace, plachost, aktivita a emocionalita. Na základě hodnocení vychovatelkami byly zjištěny tři faktory: sociabilita, aktivita a emocionalita. V rámci hodnocení hry byly vytvořeny čtyři bipolární dimenze: senzomotorické x fantazijní hry, fyzické x kognitivní, kompetitivní x kooperativní hry a hry s pravidly x bez pravidel. Dítě bylo hhodnoceno psychology a rodiči. Pro velké rozdíly se pracovalo s oběma hodnoceními zvlášť. Stabilita hry byla definována jako počet změn her během jedné hodiny pozorování. Vztahy temperamentu a hry byly zjišťovány korelační analýzou. Aktivní děti preferovaly fyzické hry a hry s pravidly. Děti s vysokou emocionalitou preferovaly hry s pravidly a fantazijní hry. Plaché děti inklinovaly k hrám kompetitivním a kognitivním. Děti s vysokou afiliací se převážně věnovaly senzomotorickým hrám. Genderové rozdíly byly zjišťovány t-testy. Chlapci preferovali více fantazijní hru, zatímco dívky inklinovaly více ke hře senzomotorické. Vztah temperamentu a stability hry byl zjišťován prostřednictvím korelací. Aktivní děti měli tendenci k častým změnám jednotlivých her.

Abstract:

The Relationship between Temperament and Play Preferences in Nursery-Aged Children The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between temperament and play preferences in nursery-aged children. The second aim of this study was to investigate whether there are differences between play of girls and boys and whether there is a connection between temperament and stability of play. Selected sample consisted of 20 girls and 20 boys from 44 to 88 months.. Temperament was assessed by observation and ranking on scales exempted from Buss' and Plomin's EAS. These scales were also ranked by nursemaids and parents. Parents' assessment was finally excluded because of low validity. Factor analysis of psychologists' assessment showed four factors: affiliation, shyness, emotionality and activity. Factor analysis of nursemaids' assessment showed three factors: sociability, emocionality and activity. For play assessment there were constructed four bipolar play dimensions: sensomotorical vs. imaginary, physical vs. cognitive, competitive vs. cooperative play and play with vs. without rules. Because of differences between parents' and psychologists' assessment, the data analysis was performed separately. Play stability was defined as number of changes of play during one hour of observation. Relation between temperament and play preferences were examined by correlation. It was found out that active children preffered physical games and games with rules. Children with high emotionality tended to play games with rules and imaginary games. Shychildren played more competitive and cognitive games while children with high affiliation preffered sensomotorical games. Gender differences were examind by t-test. Boys preffered imaginary games while girls preffered more senzomotorical games. The relationship between play stability and temperament was examind by correlations. Active children tended to change games often.
