An Ethic of Political Reconciliation

Abstract:

This thesis introduces a new theory to the Czech-Slovak academic field of peace-making in international relations. It is a new paradigm built on the theoretical basis of the overlapping consensus of three Abrahamic traditions which have made their presence felt for more than a thousand years. The key question to which this work seeks an answer is: What does justice consist of in the wake of its massive violation? The answer lies in six practices which address the primary and secondary wounds inflicted on victims of injustice by political actors. This theory is a new prism through which we can look at the Slovak-Hungarian relations after the First World War, and having so we are presented with the thesis that there is no full-fledged peace between Hungary and the Slovak Republic what could mean a potential threat in the future. Therefore, the theory of political reconciliation might be a guiding principle for the procedure to solve this issue.

Abstract:

Práca prináša do česko-slovenského akademického prostredia mierotvorby v medzinárodných vzťahoch novú teóriu. Je to nová paradigma, ktorá je však vystavaná na teoretickom základe prekrývajúceho sa konsenzu troch abrahámskych tradícií s viac ako tisícročnými tradíciami. Nosnou otázkou prvej časti práce je: Čo znamená vykonať spravodlivosť po tom, ako bola spáchaná masívna nespravodlivosť? Odpoveďou je šesť-krokový postup, ktorý rieši primárne a sekundárne zranenia obetí po spáchanej nespravodlivosti politickým aktérom. Táto teória je novou prizmou, cez ktorú sme sa pozreli na slovensko-maďarské vzťahy po prvej svetovej vojne. Toho výsledkom je téza, že medzi Maďarskom a Slovenskou republikou nie je uzavretý plnohodnotný mier, čo môže v sebe ukrývať potenciálnu hrozbu do budúcna. Teória etiky politického zmierenia môže byť smerodajným postupom k riešeniu tohto problému.
