Kinematic analysis of trunk movement in premature infants

Abstract:

Cieľom práce bolo zistiť rozdiel v pohybe trupu u detí narodených predčasne a detí narodených v termíne. Výskumný súbor tvorilo 10 detí experimentálnej a 10 detí kontrolnej skupiny. Priemerný gestačný vek experimentálnej skupiny bol pri pôrode 34 týždňov + 1 deň a v čase merania 36 týždňov + 6 dní. Deti kontrolnej skupiny boli narodené medzi 38. a 42. týždňom a v čase merania bol ich priemerný vek 39 týždňov + 4 dni. Priemerná pôrodná hmotnosť experimentálnej skupiny bola 1906 g. V čase merania bola ich priemerná hmotnosť 2400 g. Deti z kontrolnej skupiny mali priemernú hmotnosť 3377 g pri narodení a 3114 g v čase merania. Výskum bol prevedený vo Fakultnej nemocnici v Olomouci 3D kinematickou analýzou pohybu. Za pomoci dvoch kamier, Sony DCR-TRV900E a Sony HDV 1080i sme nahrali 30 sekundový videozáznam spontánneho pohybu dieťaťa, ktorý bol následne hodnotený. Sledovali sme rozsah, variabilitu a rýchlosť pohybu troch anatomických bodov na tele novorodenca (processus xyphoideus, ťažisko a pupok). Zistili sme, že dieťa narodené predčasne sa líši od dieťaťa narodeného v plánovanom termíne vo všetkých troch parametroch. Vo všetkých štatisticky významných rozdieloch boli hodnoty u predčasne narodených novorodencov väčšie. Z výsledkov našej práce teda vyplýva, že tieto deti vykazujú vo svojom spontánnom pohybe v polohe na chrbte väčší rozsah, variabilitu a taktiež rýchlosť pohybu trupu, ako deti narodené v termíne.

Abstract:

The aim of our study was to find a difference in the movement of trunk in premature infants and infants born in term. The research group consisted of 10 premature infants in experimental group and 10 in term born newborns. The average gestational age of the experimental group was 34 weeks + 1 day at birth and 36 weeks + 6 days in the time of measuring. The children from the control group were born between 38. and 42. week of gestation and in the time of measuring their average age was 39 weeks + 4 days. The average birth weight of the experimental group was 1906 g. In the time of measurement their average weight was 2400 g. The children from the control group weighted in average 3377 g in the time of birth and 3114 in the time of measuring. The research was made in the Faculty hospital in Olomouc with 3D kinematic analysis of movement. We took a 30 second lasting videorecord of spontaneous movement of the newborn, which we evaluated. We used 2 cameras, Sony DCR-TRV900E a Sony HDV 1080i. We explored the range of motion, variability and velocity of the 3 anatomical points on the newborn body (xyphoid, COM and bellybutton). We found out, that the preterm baby differs from the baby born in term in all the three parameters. In all the statistically significant deviations the rates were higher by premature infants. The result of our study says, that the infants born pretern show in their spontaneous movement in supine position a higher range of motion, variability and velocity, than the newborns born in term.
