The effect of a Comprehensive Rehabilitation in Patiens after Stroke with neglect syndrom

Abstract:

My diploma thesis deals with the evaluation of the level of self-sufficiency in patients after stroke with neglect syndrome. The patients involved in the thesis were hospitalized at the Remedial and Rehabilitation Department of the Faculty Hospital at St. Anna. The Functional Independence Measure test was used to test self-sufficiency. Patients were always tested after admission and after the end of their stay. During the entire stay, patients were provided with comprehensive rehabilitation, which includes physiotherapy, occupational therapy and, if necessary, speech therapy and psychotherapy. The main goal of my diploma thesis was to evaluate whether comprehensive therapy has an effect on the functional degree of independence of the tested probands. The result of the main objective came out as very significant at the level of significance. Secondary objectives include assessing whether the initial cognitive score has an effect on the motor component of the Functional Independence Measure test, whether the age of the patients will affect the motor component of this test, and whether the length of hospitalization will have an effect on the output score of the Functional Independence Measure test. The effect of the cognitive score on the motor component was insignificant, the effect of age on the motor component was very significant, and the effect of the length of hospitalization on the output score was insignificant. The final secondary objective evaluated the impact of the Functional Independence Measure test entry and exit results on patients' discharge to the home environment or to a follow-up care facility. The effect of the entry score was not confirmed as significant, but the effect of the exit score was found to be significant.

Moja diplomová práca sa zaoberá hodnotením miery sebestačnosti u pacientov po cievnej mozgovej príhode s neglect syndrómom. Pacienti zapojený do diplomovej práce boli hospitalizovaný na Doliečovacom a rehabilitačnom oddelení Fakultnej nemocnice u svätej Anny. Na testovanie sebestačnosti sa využíval test Funkčnej miery nezávislosti. Pacienti boli vždy testovaný po prijatí a po ukončení pobytu. Počas celého pobytu bola pacientom poskytovaná komprehenzívna rehabilitácia, kde je zastúpená fyzioterapia, ergoterapia a v prípade potreby logopédia a psychoterapia. Hlavným cieľom mojej diplomovej práce bolo zhodnotiť, či má komprehenzívna terapia vplyv na funkčnú mieru nezávislosti testovaných probandov. Výsledok hlavného cieľa vyšiel na hladine významnosti ako veľmi významný. Medzi vedľajšie ciele patrí zhodnotenie, či má vstupné kognitívne skóre vplyv na motorickú zložku testu Funkčnej miery nezávislosti, či vek pacientov ovplyvní motorickú zložku tohto testu a či dĺžka hospitalizácie bude mať vplyv na výstupné skóre testu Funkčnej miery nezávislosti. Vplyv kognitívneho skóre na motorickú zložku vyšiel ako nevýznamný, vplyv veku na motorickú zložku vyšiel ako veľmi významný a vplyv dĺžky hospitalizácie na výstupné skóre vyšlo ako nevýznamné. V poslednom vedľajšom cieli sa hodnotil vplyv vstupných a výstupných výsledkov testu Funkčnej miery nezávislosti na prepustenie pacientov do domáceho prostredia alebo do zariadenia následnej starostlivosti. Vplyv vstupné skóre sa nepotvrdil ako významný, ale vplyv výstupného skóre vyšiel ako významný.
