Mathematical Morphology Algorithms

Abstract:

V bakalářské práci jsou popsány základní operátory matematické morfologie - dilatace a eroze. Dále jsou podrobně popsány a vysvětleny algoritmy výpočtu těchto operátorů: základní algoritmus, van Herkův rekurzivní algoritmus a jeho rozšířená verze pro použití strukturních elementů libovolných úhlů a s ním spojený Bresenhamův algoritmus pro vytvoření diskrétní čáry ze spojité. Tyto algoritmy pro výpočet dilatace a eroze jsou realizovány v programovacím prostředí Matlab a skripty jsou k dispozici na přiloženém CD. Bakalářská práce také obsahuje porovnání rychlosti implementovaných algoritmů a zabývá se možností paralelizace algoritmů. Použitím vícejádrových procesorů, systémů SIMD a VLIW nebo použitím výkonného grafického procesoru GPU se výpočet algoritmů velmi urychlí.

Abstract:

In this bachelor thesis, fundamental operators of mathematical morphology such as dilation and erosion are described. There are also described and explained following algorithms for executing dilation and erosion: basic algorithm, van Herk recursive algorithm and van Herk recursive algorithm extended to lines at arbitrary angles. Bresenham algorithm is also described in this thesis because this algorithm is very important for executing van Herk recursive algorithm extended to lines at arbitrary angles. Bresenham algorithm transforms continuous line to discrete line. All these algorithms are implemented in Matlab scripts and are available in the CD. This bachelor thesis also contains comparison of implemented algorithms and deals with parallel processing of algorithms. Algorithms can process faster by using multi-core processor, SIMD, VLIW system or by using powerful graphics processing unit.
