Rehabilitation of the elderly following stroke: case report

Abstract:

Stroke is a cerebrovascular disease that represents one of the biggest problems (after the cardiovascular diseases and neoplasms) psycho-social and sanitary worse since it is considered as the third pathology that causes death, partial or total disability and second cause of dementia at the level world. In recent years it has been shown how important it is to act in advance since the first hours of the stroke, highlighting how fundamental the role of physiotherapy and consequently of the physiotherapist, which aims both at the recovery and maintenance of residual functional capacities, both at recovery that improves the quality of the patient's lifestyle so that it can relate in the best way with the surrounding environment.

Abstract:

L'ictus ? una malattia cerebrovascolare che rappresenta uno dei maggiori problemi (dopo le malattie cardiovascolari e neoplasie) psico-sociale e sanitarie peggiori poiché viene considerata come la terza patologia che provoca morte, invalidit? parziale se non totale e seconda causa di demenza a livello mondiale. Negli ultimi anni ? stato dimostrato come sia importante agire in anticipo fin dalle prime ore di manifestazione dell'ictus, evidenziando come fondamentale il ruolo della fisioterapia e di conseguenza del fisioterapista, che mira sia al recupero e al mantenimento delle capacit? funzionali residue, sia al recupero che miglioramento della qualit? dello stile di vita del paziente affinché possa relazionarsi nel migliore dei modi con l'ambiente circostante.
