Swing Talks – Animation Project of History of Swing Culture and its Influence on Society in 1920s – 1940s in the USA

Abstract:

Cílem práce je popis důvodů vzniku a zpracování animačního projektu Swing Talks, který bude online archivem audionahrávek se zaměřením především na hudbu a tanec 1. poloviny 20. století v USA.V teoretické části se budu věnovat kulturní animaci, historii a vývoji jazzu, postavení afroamerické komunity ve společnosti, vlivu hudby a tance na jejich integraci a přínosu projektu z pohledu animace kultury a společnosti. V praktické části se pak budu zabývat realizací projektu, jeho řešením a případnými možnostmi pro rozšíření a další využití.

Abstract:

The goal of this thesis is to present reasons for creation of animation project Swing Talks, which will be an online archive of audio recordings with the focus on music and dance during the 1st half of the 20th century. In theoretical part I will be focusing on history and evolution of African-American community in the USA, history and evolution of jazz and dancing, and methodology of project management and animation in culture. In practical part I will describe the process of execution of the project and its possible upgrades and further utilization.
