Comparison of Motives and Similarities between the Main Characters in the Works of Hermann Hesse

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis is focused on life and work of German-Swiss writer and Nobel Prize for literature winner Hermann Hesse. The thesis focuses on five works written by this author, which are Petr Camenzind, Demian, Siddhartha, Steppenwolf, Narcissus and Goldmund. The first chapter deals with Hesse's life and factors that influenced his literary work. Second chapter deals with short story description of the five researched books. The third chapter of thesis is devoted to individual autobiographical factors between the main characters and author himself. The final chapter summarizes discovered knowledge and compares the autobiographical similarities across the researched literary works.

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá životem a dílem německo-švýcarského literáta a nositele Nobelovy ceny za literaturu Hermann Hesseho. Práce se soustředí na pět děl tohoto autora, a sice Petr Camenzind, Demian, Siddhartha, Stepní vlk a Narcis a Goldmund. První kapitola této práce pojednává o životě autora a okolnostech, které ovlivnily jeho tvorbu. Druhá kapitola práce se zabývá krátkým představení pěti zkoumaných knih. Třetí kapitola je věnována jednotlivým autobiografickým prvkům mezi hlavními postavami a autorem. Závěrečná kapitola se věnuje souhrnu zjištěných poznatků a srovnání autobiografických podobností napříč zkoumanými díly.
