The Significance of EURES in Removing Barriers of International Labour Mobility

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá překážkami, které znesnadňují migrantům naplnit jejich záměr pracovat v zahraničí, a významem EURES pro překonání těchto zábran. Jejím cílem je zodpovědět hlavní výzkumnou otázku: „Jak EURES pomáhá překonávat bariéry mezinárodní pracovní mobility?“ Prvá část vysvětluje hlavní pojmy a na základě teorií migrace objasňuje faktory migrace, její význam a bariéry, se kterými se migranti setkávají. Práce také představuje službu EURES, její cíle a aktivity. Empirická část vycházející z úvodního teoretického rámce interpretuje výsledky výzkumu provedeného kvalitativní strategií. Předmětem výzkumu jsou bariéry migrantů a pomoc služeb EURES při jejich překonávání. Pro získání dat byla použita technika polostrukturovaného rozhovoru s klienty EURES. Závěr práce shrnuje výsledky, na základě nichž dává doporučení k dalšímu rozvoji služby. Počet slov: 12 899

Abstract:

This thesis deals with obstacles that make it difficult for migrants to complete their plan to work abroad, and with the significance of EURES in overcoming these constraints. The work´s aim is to answer the main research question: “How does EURES contribute to overcoming barriers of international labour mobility?” The first part explains the main constructs and in terms of theories of migration clarifies factors of migration, its significance and barriers the migrants come across. The thesis also introduces EURES, its goals and activities. The empirical part resulting from theoretical framework interprets the results of the research undertaken by qualitative strategy. The subject of the research is the barriers migrants face and the assistance of EURES with surpassing them. The technique of semi-structural interview with clients was used for obtaining the data. The conclusion summarizes the findings, followed by recommendations for further development of the service. Numeber of words: 12 899
