Diplomová práce se zabývá životem a dílem Kate Chopinové a Katherine Mansfieldové, s důrazem na vliv širšího kulturně-společenského kontextu, ve kterém tvořily. Jejím hlavním cílem je zodpovědět na otázku, do jaké míry a jakým způsobem byly tyto dvě spisovatelky součástí fenoménu "Nové ženy``, a zda a do jaké míry je tedy lze označit za feministické autorky. The thesis is concerned with the life and work of the writers Kate Chopin and Katherine Mansfield, with focus on the influence of cultural and social contexts of the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century on their literature.
