Informal social network analysis in an organization

Abstract:

Cílem bakalářské práce je identifikace nedostatků neformální komunikační sítě v konkrétní společnosti. Teoretickým základem práce je rozbor mezilidské komunikace v organizacích, na které je nahlíženo jako na jednu či více sdružených malých skupin, ve kterých vznikají specifická sociální uspořádání. Praktická část se následně zaobírá vlastním výzkumem, využívajícím metody sociometrie k identifikaci neformální struktury zkoumané společnosti na základě relačních dat získaných dotazováním napříč celou organizací. Následně jsou identifikovány nedostatky této struktury a navržena jejich potenciální řešení.

Abstract:

The aim of the thesis is the identification of shortcomings, such as bottlenecks or isolated players in the informal communication network in a specific organization. The theoretical basis builds on the study of interpersonal communication in organizations understood as sums of small social groups and the resulting social arrangement mirrored in the formation of informal structures inside organizations. The following part is concerned with the research itself, using sociometric methods to determine the informal structure of the respective organization based on relational data gathered using a questionnaire inside the company and identifying its shortcomings and potential improvement opportunities.
