Healing from depression

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zaobírala depresivní poruchou a cestou vyléčení deprese. Teoretická část je rozdělena na dvě kapitoly a jsou zde popsány symptomy, příčiny, teorie vzniku deprese a možnosti léčby deprese. Data pro praktickou část byla sbírána za pomocí polostrukturovaných rozhovorů se čtyřmi respondenty. Všechny rozhovory proběhly online formou. Tři respondenti jsou aktuálně minimálně přes dva roky bez depresivní epizody a u jedné respondentky došlo k výraznému zlepšení stavu za poslední 2 roky. Analýza dat proběhla za pomocí tematické analýzy. Z výsledku analýzy vyplynulo, že klíčovými faktory vyléčení či výrazného zlepšení stavu u respondentů bylo uvědomění si, že je něco špatně, přijmutí deprese, převzetí zodpovědnosti, změna úhlu pohledu, podpora blízkých osob, budování sebedůvěry, víra a naděje, fyzická aktivita, koníčky a odborná pomoc. Pro některé respondenty dále hrálo velkou roli disciplína a režim, odstranění příčiny, alternativní léčba a mindfulness.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis focused on depressive disorder and the path to its treatment. The theoretical part is divided into two chapters that deal with symptoms, causes, theories of depression and treatment options. The data for the practical part was collected through semi-structured interviews with four respondents conducted online. Three respondents have been free of depressive episodes for at least two years and one respondent has shown significant improvement in the last two years. Data analysis was conducted using thematic analysis. The results showed that the key factors for recovery or significant improvement in the respondents' condition included awareness of the problem, acceptance of depression, taking responsibility, change of perspective, support from people, building confidence, faith and hope, physical activity, hobbies and professional help. Discipline and routine, alternative treatments and mindfulness also played a significant role for some respondents.
