Long-term vegetation changes in selected forest areas in the Beskydy foothills

Abstract:

Práce popisuje současný stav vegetace ve vybraných lesních celcích Beskydského podhůří (Ondřejník, Palkovické hůrky a Červený kámen v Šostýnských vrších), srovnává historický a současný stav a vyhodnocuje změny vegetace na základě porovnání historických zápisů a se současným stavem. V roce 2021 jsem zapsala 39 fytocenologických snímků na místech, kde bylo zaznamenáno druhové složení vegetace v letech 1960–1973. Na každé ploše jsem odebrala půdní vzorek, ve kterém bylo změřeno pH, poměr C/N, obsah fosforu a draslíku. Pomocí modifikované metody TWINSPAN a expertního systému pro klasifikaci vegetace České republiky jsem rozlišila pět vegetačních typů. Mezi obdobími snímkování došlo na části ploch ke změně vegetačního typu, dále ke snížení průměrného počtu druhů na snímek, avšak celkově bylo oproti historickým zápisům zaznamenáno o 10 druhů více. Těsně neprůkazně se snížil podíl ohrožených druhů ve snímku a signifikantně narostl podíl neofytů ve snímku. Byla zjištěna pozitivní závislost výskytu neofytů v nových snímcích na obsahu fosforu v půdních vzorcích, což dobře odráží skutečnost, že se neofyty nejvíc šíří v úživnějších vegetačních typech. Ze zmenšení podílu ohrožených druhů („losers“) a nárůstu podílu neofytů („winners“) je možné odhadovat pozvolnou biotickou homogenizaci oblasti. Ustupujícím druhům nelze přisoudit společnou charakteristiku. Mezi šířící se druhy patří silní konkurenti a druhy narušovaných stanovišť. Ordinace ukazují průkaznou změnu mezi obdobími, ale k výrazné změně v ellenbergovských indikačních hodnotách nedošlo. Těsně neprůkazně se však zvýšila intenzita disturbance bylinného patra, což může být důsledkem těžby, která v posledních letech v oblasti probíhá kvůli kůrovcové kalamitě.

Abstract:

This thesis describes the current state of vegetation in selected forest areas in the Beskydy foothills. Based on a comparison of historical and repeated relevés, it also compares the historical and recent state of vegetation and evaluates changes. In 2021, I recorded 39 phytosociological relevés on semi-permanent plots from 1960–1973. I took a soil sample from each plot, which was used for measuring pH, C/N ratio, phosphorus and potassium content. I used the modified TWINSPAN algorithm and an expert system for automatic classification of vegetation plots from the Czech Republic to distinguish five vegetation units. Vegetation units changed in some plots between the two sampling periods. The mean number of species per plot decreased, but in total, ten more species were recorded. The proportion of endangered species per plot decreased slightly, and the proportion of neophytes increased significantly. There is a positive relationship between the occurrence of neophytes and soil phosphorus content, which corresponds with an increase in the proportion of neophytes in vegetation types developed on fertile soils. Gradual biotic homogenization could be assessed from the decreased proportion of endangered species (“losers”) and the increased proportion of neophytes (“winners”). The group of decreasing species lacks common characteristic. Increasing species are mostly strong competitors or species of disturbed sites. Ordinations show a significant shift between the sampling periods, but no pronounced change in Ellenberg-type indicator values was recorded. However, there was a marginally significant increase in disturbance intensity in the herb layer. This may be the result of salvage logging due to bark beetle outbreaks in recent dry years.
