The childrens house as a disciplinary institution

Abstract:

Vzhledem k faktu, že Česká republika je v mezinárodní komparaci na přední příčce v počtu dětí umístěných v ústavních zařízeních, rozhodla jsem se zaměřit se na fungování a život v tomto zařízení, konkrétně dětském domově. Považovala jsem za zajímavé a přínosné zaobírat se dětským domovem z pohledu Foucaultova konceptu disciplinárního zařízení. Jelikož dětský domov je místo, které má dítěti nahrazovat rodinné zázemí, zajímalo mě, zdali a v jaké míře je možné vypozorovat v tomto zařízení prvky disciplíny, hierarchizovaného dohledu, poslušnosti, trestu, sankcí, řádu a pravidel a jak je v tomto prostředí zacházeno s dětským tělem. Hlavní výzkumnou otázkou tedy bylo, je-li možné na dětský domov aplikovat Foucaultův koncept disciplinárního zařízení. Zaměřila jsem se na dětský domov z hlediska fungování na základě vnitřního řádu a zákonných předpisů, taktéž jsem vycházela z vlastních poznatků získaných během návštěvy dětského domova v Jemnici. Výsledkem bylo zjištění, že dětský domov je skutečně možné považovat za disciplinární zařízení, neboť z dětí jsou vytvářena poslušná těla skrze dané normy a rozvržení času. Děti jsou zde pod stálým dohledem svých vychovatelek a každé jejich chování je hodnoceno a sankciováno. Skrze disciplínu jsou děti cvičeny ke konformnímu chování.

Abstract:

Due to the fact that the Czech Republic is in international comparison on the front rung in the number of children located in the institutional facilities, I decided to focus on the working and life in this facility, specifically in a children´s home. I think that it will be interesting and useful to study the children´s home from the perspective of Foucault's concept of disciplinary facility. Since the children's home is a place that should substitute a family background to the child, I wonder if and to what extent it can be seen as the components of the discipline, supervision, obedience, punishment, sanctions, regulations and rules in this facility, and how the child´s body is treated in this setting. The main research question is if is possible to apply the Foucault´s concept of disciplinary facility to the children´s home. I focused on the children's home from point of view of working on the basis of an internal set of rules and laws and I utilized also the own information which I gained during the visit in the children´s home in Jemnice. I discovered that is possible to regard the children´s home as the disciplinary facility because from children are formed the docile bodies through given norms and timetabling. There are children beneath continual supervision of their educators and every their behavior is evaluated and subsequently is penalized or rewarded. The children are train to conformance through the discipline.
