Equal opportunities for men and women in selected organization

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with the setting and the abidance of the equal opportunities for men and women in selected organization. In the theoretic part of the thesis there are defined the differences between men and women in the labour market which are caused by the gender stereotypes and differences between men and women in the private life. The next part describes the methodological charakteristics of the research, in which was used the qualitative strategy realized by the documents analysis and the semi-structured interviews. In the empirical part of the thesis the analysis and the interpretation of the results are given. The organization and their employees perceive the setting and the abidance the equal opportunities between men and women as equal. Even though this research found out the resistance of the gender stereotypes from the organization and from their employees as well, what can be seen in the women overrepresentation in the organization. In the research there were found the needs of the employees on the maternal/parental leave which haven´t been realized yet and also the need for more flexibility.

Abstract:

Diplomová práca sa zaoberá nastavením a dodržiavaním rovných príležitostí mužov a žien vo vybranej organizácii. V teoretickej časti práce sú definované rozdiely medzi mužmi a ženami na trhu práce spôsobované genderovými stereotypmi a rozdielmi medzi mužmi a ženami v osobnom živote. Ďalšia časť popisuje metodologické charakteristiky výskumu, kde bola použitá kvalitatívna stratégia realizovaná analýzou dokumentov a pološtruktúrovanými rozhovormi. V empirickej časti práce dochádza k analýze a interpretácii zozbieraných dát. Organizácia aj jej zamestnanci vnímajú nastavenie aj dodržiavanie príležitostí medzi mužmi a ženami ako rovné. Prevedený empirický výskum však zistil pretrvávanie genderových stereotypov zo strany organizácie tak aj zamestnancov, čo sa môže odrážať vo vyššom pomernom zastúpení žien v organizácii. Boli zistené aj nenaplnené potreby zamestnancov na materskej/rodičovskej dovolenke a potreba väčšej flexibility pracovných úväzkov.
