Comparing the levels of adiponectin and other metabolic parameters in patients treated with nilotinib

Abstract:

My thesis deals with the impact of the nilotinib treatment on adiponectin levels and biochemical parameters of glucose metabolism - blood glucose, insulin, C-peptide, glycated hemoglobin as well as the development of glucose metabolism disorder in patients with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). I am elaborating the work of authors Ráčil and others, which deals with the mechanisms of impaired glucose tolerance in patients with CML treated with nilotinib. They calculated insulin resistance and ß-cells function of the pancreas with the help of mathematical models. I expanded the list of patients on whom the effect of nilotinib on their glucose metabolism has been monitored. Instead of calculating insulin resistance, sensitivity and ß-cell function with the help of mathematical models, from the results of the measured parameters we could track the increase or decrease in blood glucose levels, insulin, C-peptide, glycated hemoglobin and adiponectin and the development of glucose metabolism disorder during the treatment with nilotinib in patients with CML.

Abstract:

V tejto práci sa venujeme vplyvu liečby nilotinibu na hladinu adiponektínu a biochemických parametrov glukózového metabolizmu – glykémie, inzulínu, C-peptidu, glykovaného hemoglobínu a vývinu porúch glukózového metabolizmu u pacientov s chronickou myeloidnou leukémiou (CML). Svojou prácou nadväzujem na prácu autorov Ráčil et al., ktorá sa zaoberala mechanizmami porušenej glukózovej tolerancie u pacientov s CML liečených nilotinibom. Použitím matematických modelov počítali inzulínovú rezistenciu a funkciu ß-buniek pankreasu.. V našej práci je súbor pacientov, ktorým sa sledoval vplyv nilotinibu na ich glukózový metabolizmus rozšírený. Nepočítali sme pomocou matematických modelov inzulínovú rezistenciu, senzitivitu a funkciu ß-buniek, ale z výsledkou meraných parametrov sme mohli sledovať zvýšenie alebo zníženie hladín glykémie, inzulínu, C.peptidu, glykovaného hemoglobínu a adiponektínu a vývin porúch glukózového metabolizmu počas liečby nilotinibom u pacientov s CML.
