Female Heroines in Serbian Literature in the Vicious Circle of Patriarchate

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis examines the concept of women in literature by Serbian authors published from 1879 to 1996. The study of female characters in prose in Serbia does not receive enough attention. Therefore, the work raises the question of whether the shown female characters and their attitudes reflected current social events and modern views on the role of women in society. It focuses mainly on selected works by nine authors, who in their works depicted the female position in society and in the family at the time. To place the topic in a socio-historical context, in some places I approached what was happening in what was then Serbia. The main goal of my work was to find out what types of women were portrayed in Serbian prose work. Through the literature, many feminist topics and current social events and gender issues of the time were pointed out. I divided the literature I found into characters according to their attitude in the patriarchy to show a gradual change in their attitude.

Abstract:

Táto bakalárska práca skúma poňatie ženy v prózé srbských autorov a autoriek vydanej od roku 1879 až po rok 1996. Skúmaniu ženských postáv v próze v Srbsku sa nevenuje dostatočne veľká pozornosť. Preto si práca kladie otázku, či zobrazované ženské postavy a ich postoje odrážali aktuálne spoločenské dianie a moderné názory na úlohu ženy v spoločnosti. Zameriava sa predovšetkým na vybrané diela deviatich autorov, ktorí vo svojich dielach zobrazovali ženské postavenie v spoločnosti a v rodine v danej dobe. Pre zasadenie témy do spoločensko-historického kontextu, na niektorých miestach približujem dianie vo vtedajšom Srbsku. Hlavným cieľom mojej práce bolo zistiť, aké typy žien boli zobrazované v srbskej prozaickej tvorbe. Prostredníctvom literatúry bolo poukazované na mnohé feministické témy a aktuálne spoločenské dianie a rodové problémy doby. V dielach, ktoré som si vybrala, som postavy rozdelila podľa ich postoja k patriarchátu, aby som ukázala na postupnú zmenu ich postoja.
