Women's Awareness of Breast Cancer Prevention

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou informovanosti žen o prevenci karcinomu prsu. Hlavními cíli práce bylo prostřednictvím literární rešerše přehledně ucelit získané informace týkající se zhoubného nádorového onemocnění prsu a dále shrnout jednotlivá stádia onemocnění a prevenci rakoviny prsu. Teoretická část se skládá z šesti na sebe navazujících kapitol. Nejprve je stručně popsána anatomie prsu, dále karcinom prsu, rizikové faktory, klinické příznaky, diagnostika a prevence karcinomu prsu. Praktická část práce je založena na kvantitativní metodě prostřednictvím dotazníkového šetření, kterého se zúčastnilo 97 respondentek. Hlavním cílem empirické části bylo zjistit, zda jsou ženy dostatečně informovány o prevenci karcinomu prsu. Na základě průzkumného šetření se ukazuje, že ženy mají poměrné dobré vědomosti a znalosti týkající se informovanosti o prevenci karcinomu prsu, konkrétně se jedná o oblasti prevence pomocí mamografického screeningu, klinických projevů karcinomu prsu a rizikových faktorů maligního nádorového onemocnění. Větší nedostatky lze spatřit především v problematice samovyšetření prsou. V závěru práce jsou uvedena doporučení pro praxi, která vyplývají ze získaných dat a analýzy průzkumu.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the issue of women's awareness of breast cancer prevention. The main objectives of the thesis were to summarize the obtained information concerning breast cancer through a literature search and to summarize the different stages of the disease and breast cancer prevention. The theoretical part consists of six consecutive chapters. First, the anatomy of the breast is briefly described, followed by breast cancer, risk factors, clinical symptoms, diagnosis and prevention of breast cancer. The practical part of the thesis is based on quantitative method through a questionnaire survey in which 97 respondents participated. The main aim of the empirical part is to find out whether women are sufficiently informed about breast cancer prevention. Based on the survey, it is found that women have relatively good knowledge and understanding regarding breast cancer prevention awareness, specifically in the areas of prevention through mammography screening, clinical manifestations of breast cancer and risk factors for malignant cancer. Major gaps can be seen particularly in the area of breast self-examination. The paper concludes with recommendations for practice, based on the data obtained and the analysis of the survey.
