Historical transformations of folk festival - The Ride of the Kings in Vlčnov in years 1965-1989

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá lidovým obyčejem jízdou králů a její proměnou v čase ve městě Vlčnov. Práce se zaměřuje na popis průběhu tohoto obřadu a srovnává jej se dvěma dalšími, které se na území České republiky stále konají. V práci je zachycena nejenom problematika původu obřadu, ale jsou zde také doloženy první dochované písemné zmínky. Proměna jízdy králů během let je patrná i ve změně tradičního lidového oděvu, jenž se dodnes u této příležitosti používá. Mezi hlavní zdroje bakalářské práce patří obecní kronika, publikace o Jízdě králů ve Vlčnově, Kunovicích a Hluku, ale také rozhovory s pamětníky.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the folklore event the Ride of the Kings and its transformation over the years in the town of Vlcnov. It mainly focuses on the description of the event itself and the comparison with two other similar events that also take place in the Czech Republic. The thesis deals not only with the issue of the event´s origin but also supports the origin with the first written records. The transformation of the event over the years is also noticeable on the changes of the traditional folklore costumes that are still used for the purposes of the event. The main sources of the bachelor thesis are the town chronicle, publications about the Ride of the Kings in Vlcnov, Kunovice and Hluk, and also the interviews with old residents.
