Support of Mental Health of Elementary School Pupils With Aid of the Selected Positive Psychology Methods

Abstract:

Tématem diplomové práce je podpora psychického zdraví žáků především druhého stupně základní školy. Práce je rozdělena na část teoretickou a empirickou, přičemž empirická část se ještě dělí na výzkumnou a didaktickou část. Teoretická část je zpracována pomocí odborné literatury. První kapitola je věnována emocím a psychickému zdraví, jejich funkcím a především pak pozitivním emocím, které úzce souvisí s pozitivní psychologií a jejími hlavními myšlenkami, jež jsou představeny v následující kapitole. Ve třetí kapitole jsou stručně popsány hlavní principy Montessori pedagogiky a její souvislost s podporou psychického zdraví žáků. Cílem výzkumu bylo podpořit psychické zdraví žáků ZŠ a zjistit, jaké prvky Montessori pedagogiky podporují psychické zdraví. Dalším cílem bylo zjistit společné souvislosti pozitivní psychologie a Montessori pedagogiky a také popsat jejich společné prvky, které se podílí na podpoře psychického zdraví. Zároveň autorku zajímalo, jak žáci druhého stupně ZŠ vnímají pohodu a mezilidské vztahy ve třídě. Didaktická část obsahuje zpracované návrhy vyučovacích hodin zaměřené na podporu psychického zdraví žáků.

Abstract:

The topic of this diploma thesis is the support of mental health of pupils, mainly from lower-secondary school. The thesis is divided into theoretical and empirical part, whereas the empirical part is divided into research and methodology part. The theoretical part is processed with use of specialised literature. First chapter is devoted to emotions and mental health, their function and mainly to positive emotions which are closely related to the positive psychology and its main ideas, which are introduced in the following chapter. In the third chapter are briefly described main Montessori principles and its relation to the support of pupils’ mental health. The goal of the research part is to support mental health of pupils at an elementary school and to find out which of Montessori principles support mental health. Another goal was to find common links between positive psychology and Montessori principles and to describe their common elements which participate on support of the mental health of pupils. The author was also interested in perception of well-being and interhuman relations in the classroom by pupils. Methodology part includes processed suggestions of lessons focused on supporting mental health of pupils.
