Evaluation of the cultivar assortment of carrots in the system of organic farming

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se věnuje vlivu ekologického zemědělství na výnos a obsahové látky mrkve (Daucus carota L). Literární část popisuje technologii výroby mrkve, botanický popis a obsahové látky. Je zde definováno ekologické zemědělství, jeho hlavní principy a směry. Důležitou částí je vliv ekologického zemědělství na obsahové látky. Experimentální část je věnována popisu polního pokusu a vyhodnocení získaných výsledků. Pro polní pokus byly použity 4 odrůdy: ‘Katrin‘, ‘Charisma F1‘,‘Akat F1‘ a ‘Aron F1‘. Mrkev byla sklizena ve dvou termínech. Byly hodnoceny výnosové parametry (např. výnos, počet kusů kořenů) a nutriční parametry (např. vitamin C, cukr, dusičnany). U obou sklizní byla provedena senzorická analýza. Ze získaných výsledků lze konstatovat, že sledované odrůdy splňují jakostní i nutriční požadavky, a jsou vhodné pro ekologickou produkci. Nejvhodnější odrůdou pro dřívější sklizeň byla vybrána odrůda ‘Katrin‘. Nejlepší odrůdou určenou pro standartní sklizeň byla vyhodnocena odrůda ‘Akat F1‘.

Abstract:

The subject matter of this diploma thesis is the impact of organic farming on yield and ingredients of Daucus carota L. Its theoretical part describes the production technology, botanical description, and carrot’s chemical composition. What follows are the characteristics and principles of organic production. An important chapter of the theoretical part deals with the influence of organic production on ingredients in carrot. The experimental part describes the field experiment and evaluates the results obtained therein. Four cultivars were used for the field experiment: ‘Katrin‘, ‘Charisma F1‘,‘Akat F1‘, and ‘Aron F1‘. Carrot was harvested in two terms. Yield paramters and ingredients (e.g. sugar, nitrates, fiber) were evaluated. Furthermore, a sensory analyses of both harvests was carried out. As the obtained results show, the monitored varieties meet the quality and nutritional requirements and are suitable for organic production. The best cultivar for baby carrot was evaluated ‘Katrin‘. For standard harvest is most appropriate ‘Akat F1‘ cultivar.
