Revolution in fashion - uniformity and subversion

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na období 60. až 90. let 20. století a zkoumá, jak móda komunikovala s okolím a jaké byly její hranice a myšlenky. Práce analyzuje, jak byla móda uznávaná v určitých obdobích, představuje uniformitu jako odraz společenských a kulturních norem a zároveň zkoumá, jak se jednotlivé skupiny postavily proti těmto normám a vytvářely vlastní revoluční módní projevy. Příklady jako punkové a hippies hnutí slouží k ilustraci subverze a odporu proti převládajícím trendům, čímž došlo k výrazným sociálním a estetickým změnám. Práce se soustředí na estetiku a sociální dynamiku módy, přičemž zkoumá, jak módní hnutí ovlivňovala vnímání, identitu a politiku té doby. Cílem je poskytnout ucelený pohled na vývoj módy a její roli jako prostředku komunikace, vyjádření a odporu v kontextu kulturních a sociálních revolucí 20. století.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis focuses the period from the 60s to the 90s in 20th century and researches how did fashion communicate with its surroundings and what were its limits and thoughts. The thesis analyzes how was fashion accepted in certain periods, it introduces uniformity as a reflection of social and cultural norms, while researching how did individual groups oppose against these norms and created their own revolutionary fashion statements. Examples such as the punk and hippie movements serve as an illustration of subversion and resistance towards mainstream trends, which resulted into significant social and aesthetic changes. The thesis focuses on aesthetics and social dynamics of fashion, meanwhile examining how did fashion movements influenced perception, identity and politics of that time. The aim is to provide a comprehensive view of the evolution of fashion and its role as a means of communication, expression and resistance in cultural contexts and social revolutions of 20th century.
