Gallus' Chromatical Madrigal "Mirabile Mysterium" in the Context of Similar Conceptions

Abstract:

Autorka v úvodu podává stručný životopis Jacoba Handla, řečeného Galluse v jeho jednotlivých životních zastávkách po střední Evropě. Následující kapitola seznamuje čtenáře se základními rysy a trendy společnosti a hudebních poměrů v Evropě 15. a 16. století. Kapitola si všímá i jedné konkrétní hudební formy, moteta, aby v kapitole následující se mohla autorka konkrétně zaměřit na zvolené hudební dílo - chromatické moteto Gallusovo, Mirabile mysterium, které poté, co vysvětlí původ a význam jeho textu, podrobuje hudební analýze s využitím dostupných muzikologických pramenů. V následující kapitole stručně popisuje zhudebnění předm. moteta z pera Gallusových současníků Adriana Willaerta (c. 1490 - 1562) a Giovanniho Paola Cimy (c. 1570 - po 1622) a poukazuje na jeho moderní zhudebnění Rakušanem Egonem Welleszem (1885 - 1974). V závěru pak pojednává o Gallusových figurách v předm. motetu, o harmonické a tonální novosti a autorově celkovém významu pro hudební vývoj konce 16. století.

Abstract:

In the intruduction the author tells the history of the curriculum vitae of Jacobus Handl dictus Gallus in each his stops around the Cetral Europe. The next chapter is to give a basic information about the features and trends in the society and the music in the 15th and 16th C. in Europe. Besides others the chapter deals with the specific form of music, the motet, so that the author could fluently dedicate herself to the piece of music chosen - the chromatical motet by Gallus Mirabile mysterium, which having been eplained the origin and meaning of its text, becomes a subject of her musical analysis with the help of musicological sources available. In the next chapter the motet Mirabile mysterium by Adrian Willaert (c. 1490 - 1562) and Giovanni Paolo Cima (c. 1570 - po 1622) is described and that by the Austrian Egon Wellesz (1885 - 1974) is also mentioned. At the end there is a chapter focused on the musical figures, harmony and tonality novelty in the Gallus’ motet and the chapter stresses his general meaning for the music development in the late 16th Century.
