Diplomová práce se zabývá systémem sociální ochrany osamělého rodiče a mírou poskytované ochrany v tomto systému. Teoretická část vymezuje základní pojmy, jako je rodina, osamělý rodič, sociální politika a sociální ochrana. Definována je rodina a její funkce, současné postavení rodiny.
