Determinants Influencing Eco-friendly Behavior in Domestic Tourism within the Czech Republic

Abstract:

This study examines the factors that affect eco-friendly behavior in tourism accommodations in the Krkonoše National Park (KRNAP) region of the Czech Republic. The research focuses on identifying the key determinants, such as hotel size, operating duration, geographical location, and management strategies that influence the adoption of sustainable practices in tourism accommodations. To achieve this, the research adopts a mixed-methods approach, which includes a comprehensive literature review, surveys, statistical analyses, and case studies. The study provides a detailed analysis of sustainability trends and implementations in the tourism sector. The empirical data collected from accommodations in the KRNAP area reveal varying degrees of eco-friendly behavior, influenced by a range of internal and external factors. The survey data is analyzed using statistical tests such as ANOVA and regression to identify significant relationships between hotel characteristics and sustainability practices. Additionally, a cost simulation analysis is conducted to understand the financial implications of implementing specific eco-friendly measures. The findings of the research highlight the role of geographical location and regulatory frameworks in promoting sustainability within the tourism industry. The study suggests that eco-friendly practices are not solely dependent on the size or age of the hotel but are significantly influenced by management commitment and customer demand. This study provides practical recommendations for hotel managers, policymakers, and other stakeholders in the Czech Republic's tourism sector. It emphasizes the importance of tailored strategies and local initiatives in enhancing environmental sustainability in domestic tourism accommodations. The research contributes valuable insights to the field of sustainable tourism.
