Diplomová práce se zabývá obrazem policie v detektivních románech a povídkách Agathy Christie a P. D. Jamesové a zkoumá, do jaké míry se image policie změnila v průběhu dvacátého století. První část práce je věnována historii policejních složek v Anglii, a to jak před vytvořením moderní anglické policie v roce 1829, tak i po něm. This thesis examines the image of the police in detective novels and short stories by Agatha Christie and P. D. James, and it asks to what extent the image of the police changed in the twentieth century.
