View of university students with severe disabilities at school support in the context of equality

Abstract:

V této diplomové práci byla představena problematika zdravotního postižení v kontextu terciárního vzdělávání. Čtenář se nejprve seznámil se pohledy na fenomén zdravotního postižení v rámci společenského diskurzu a následně se systémem a podobou podpory studia osob s postižením v rámci terciárního vzdělávání se zaměřením na studenty s pohybovým postižením. Výzkum, který byl součástí realizace této práce, měl za cíl zmapovat a popsat pohled studentů Masarykovy univerzity s těžkým pohybovým postižením na význam poskytovaných služeb s důrazem na kontext rovnosti. Byl realizován prostřednictvím rozhovorů s 8 studenty (5 mužů, 3 ženy). Rozhovory byly zpracovány pomocí kvalitativních analytických postupů. Výsledky výzkumu ukázaly výraznou různorodost pohledů na poskytované služby z hlediska rovnosti, a to nejen ve smyslu naplnění rovných příležitostí, ale i vnímání prvků, které je možné považovat za diskriminační, a to jak z hlediska samotných služeb, tak z hlediska přístupu členů akademické obce. Různorodý je i přístup k využívání služeb z hlediska konceptu empowermentu a autonomie, který se projevuje navzdory poměrně přesně vymezeným pravidlům poskytování služeb. V diskusi byl předložen důkladnější rozbor některých vybraných témat a navržena doporučení pro další možné výzkumy i praxi.

Abstract:

In this thesis are presented disability issues in the context of tertiary education. The reader is first acquainted with the phenomenon of disability in the social discourse and with a form of study support of people with disabilities in tertiary education with a focus on students with physical disabilities. The research, which was part of this work, aimed to map and describe the view of MU students with severe physical disabilities to meaning of provided services with emphasis on the context of equality. It was carried out through interviews with 8 students (5 men, 3 women). Interviews were processed using qualitative analytical procedures. The results showed a significant diversity of views on the services provided in terms of equality, not only in terms of fulfillment of equal opportunities, but also the perception of the elements that can be considered discriminatory, both in terms of the services themselves, and in terms of attitudes of members of the academic community. Diverse is the approach to using of services in terms of the concept of empowerment and autonomy, which are manifested in spite of relatively strictly defined rules of services providing. In the discussion was presented in-depth analysis of some selected topics and suggests recommendations for possible further research and practice.
