The succession in a family company from the point of view of the former and the new generation

Abstract:

Předmětem diplomové práce „Nástupnictví pohledem předávajících a nástupců“ je pomocí dotazníkového šetření a hloubkových rozhovorů zachytit postoje aktuálních vedoucích rodinných firem a jejich nástupců. Hlavní zkoumané oblasti jsou plán předávání vedení firmy z generace na generaci, příprava nástupců, příprava předávajících, motivace nástupců, rozdělení firem mezi potomky, nepotismus v rodinných firmách a ideální vlastnosti vedoucího. Úvodní část práce je věnována teoretickému základu pro další části práce. Jednotlivé části jsou tematicky rozděleny, jde o definice rodinného podniku, jejich výhody a nevýhody, postavení žen v čele podniků a situace rodinných podniků v České republice i ve světě. Teoretická část je zakončena právním nástupnictvím.V praktické části jsou zachyceny výsledky rozhovorů s respondenty, které jsou poté v závěru shrnuty. V tomto souhrnu je odkazováno i na teoretické základy práce.Na základě šetření provedeného v této práci autorka došla k následujícím závěrům. Majitelé rodinných firem automaticky počítají s potomky jako svými nástupci. Plánům na předání firem se ale nevěnují, dokud nejsou jejich potomci sami ochotni do firmy nastoupit. V případně nezájmu potomků majitelé volí uzavření podniku. Pohlaví nástupce není pro předávající podstatné, důležitější je podobnost uvažovaného nástupce s majitelem, jakékoli zkušenosti nástupce s vedením nejsou požadované. Nástupci jsou motivováni především možností pokračovat v tradici, přičemž nejdůležitější příprava na toto pokračování je aktivní plnění úkolů a absolvování tzv. kolečka po firmě. Nepotismus není odsuzován v případě malých podniků, které by bez pomoci členů rodiny nemohly celoročně fungovat. Naopak větší firmy nepotismus odsuzují. Názory na dělení firem z důvodu více potomků majitele, tedy i více nástupců, nejde jednoznačně zobecnit.

Abstract:

This work analyses the succession in a family company from the point of view of both sides, the former and the new generation through the method of a questionnaire and interview. The main areas are the planning of the takeover, preparation for it, motivation for the successor and division of the administration among more descendants, nepotism in the family business and the crutial skills of a good leader.The first part is dedicated to the theoretical base for the following areas: definition of a family business, advantages and disadvantages of a family business, women in the leading roles and the general situation of family companies in the Czech republic. The theoretical part is concluded with the legal aspects of a succession in the leadings roles.The second part reflects the outcome on the interviews conducted with the respondents, reffering to the theoretical base of this work.Based on the research carried out in this work, the author has reached the following conclusions. Family business owners automatically count their offspring as their successors. Business transfer plans are not considered until their descendants are willing to join the company. In the event of lack of interest from the descendants of the owners, they choose to close the company. The gender of the successor is not significant to the transferor, the more important is the similarity of the supposed successor with the owner, no experience of the successor with the management is required. The successors are motivated by the possibility of continuing the tradition, while the most important preparation for this continuation is the active fulfillment of the tasks and the passing of the so-called wheel after the company. Nepotism is not condemned in the case of small businesses that would not be able to work year-round without the help of family members. Conversely, larger companies are condemned by nepotism. Opinions about dividing companies because of multiple offspring of the owner, including multiple successors, are not unambiguously generalized.
