Self-efficacy, other-efficacy and relation-inferred self-efficacy beliefs in ballroom and latin dancers

Abstract:

Cílem práce bylo teoreticky a empiricky prozkoumat souvislosti mezi taneční self efficacy, other efficacy a relation-inferred self efficacy (RISE) tanečníků standardních a latinskoamerických tanců. Výzkumný soubor tvořilo 236 aktivních tanečníků různého věku (42,4 % mužů a 57,6 % žen) všech výkonnostních úrovní. Pro měření míry taneční self efficacy,other efficacy a RISE jsme sestavili vlastní dotazníky. Výsledky ukázaly, že všechny tři druhy efficacy spolu pozitivně korelují. Nebyl nalezen rozdíl mezi ženami a muži v míře jednotlivých druhů efficacy. Pro porovnání míry efficacy mezi různými výkonnostními třídami jsme spojili nejvyšší třídy M a A do skupiny MA, nejnižší třídy D a E do DE a střední třídy B a C do BC. Skupina DE vykazovala nižší self efficacy než skupiny MA i BC. Mezi skupinou MA a BC v míře self efficacy nebyl nalezen rozdíl. Skupina MA měla vyššíother efficacy než skupina BC i DE. Nebyl nalezen rozdíl v mířeother efficacy mezi skupinami BC a DE. V míře RISE nebyl nalezen rozdíl mezi jednotlivými výkonnostními skupinami. Výsledky výzkumu mohou sloužit jako podklad pro další výzkumnou činnost zkoumající efficacy ve sportovním tanci.

Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to theoretically and empirically examine the relationship between self-efficacy, other-efficacy and relation-inferred self-efficacy (RISE) in ballroom and latin dancers. Participants were 236 ballroom and latin dancers (42,4 % men, 57 % women) of all competitive categories and a non-competitive category. The scale for measuring dance self-efficacy, other-efficacy and RISE was taylor-made for the purpose of this study. Results revealed positive correlations between all three forms of efficacy beliefs. No difference in self-efficacy, other-efficacy and RISE was found between women and men. For the comparison of efficacy beliefs between different dance categories we combined the top categories M and A into one group MA, the lowest categories D and E into DE and mediocre categories B and C into BC. Group DE showed lower self-efficacy than groups MA and BC. No differences were found between groups MA and BC in self-efficacy. Group MA had higher other-efficacy than groups BC and DE. No difference in other-efficacy was found between groups BC and DE. No differences in RISE were found between the groups. The results of this study can be used as a basis for the future study of efficacy beliefs in dance sport.
