Primary and secondary prevention of birth defects

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce pojednává o problematice prevence vzniku vrozených vývojových vad (VVV), metodách jejich vyhledávání a možných alternativách nabízejících se v případě pozitivního výsledku, tedy zvýšeného rizika nebo diagnostikované přítomnosti vady. Teoretická část shrnuje současné možnosti primární a sekundární prevence VVV. Ve stručnosti se zaobírá také definicí VVV a jejich registrací v České republice. Obsahem praktické části práce je návrh informační brožurky o prevenci VVV pro nastávající a potenciální budoucí rodiče.

Abstract:

The bachelor’s thesis deals with the issue of prevention of birth defects’ occurrence and of screening methods and possible alternatives of procedures following positive result, meaning the elevated risk or the diagnosed presence of an abnormality. Theoretical part summarizes current options of primary and secondary prevention of birth defects. It also briefly mentions definition of birth defects and system of its registration within the Czech Republic. Content of the practical part is a suggestion for an informative booklet about the prevention of birth defects intended for becoming parents and potential future parents.
