The System of Education in Kenya and Its Comparison to the Education System in England

Abstract:

The theme of the bachelor's thesis "The system of education in Kenya and its comparison to the education system in England" describes the issue of continuity with the British educational system and its differences between schools in Kenya. The aim of the thesis is to find out whether the educational system in Kenya was influenced by the British one, given the history and coexistence of both cultures for several decades. The first part of this thesis approaches the issue of the Republic of Kenya, its geographical, political, social, and linguistic competencies, and its path to independence. In the second chapter, the work is focused on the education system itself in Kenya and its detailed analysis, from elementary schools to universities, including exams and curriculum. To compare these two educational systems, it is necessary to imagine the educational background in England, which is also represented in detail. At the end of the thesis, the differences, and similarities of both educational realities, which occurred because of the colonial period, are described.

Téma bakalářské práce "Edukační systém v Keni s porovnáním edukačního systému v Anglii" popisuje problematiku návaznosti na Britský vzdělávací systém a jeho rozdíly mezi školami v Keni. Cílem práce je zjistit, zda byl edukační systém v Keni ovlivněn Britským systémem, vzhledem k historii a soužití obou kultur po několik desítek let. Bakalářská práce je založena na přehledové studii. První část práce přibližuje problematiku Keňské republiky. Její geografické, politické, sociální a jazykové kompetence, a v neposlední řadě její cestu k samostatnosti. V druhé kapitole je práce zaměřena na samotný edukační systém v Keni a jeho detailní rozbor, od základních škol až k vysokým školám, včetně zkoušek a kurikula. K porovnání těchto dvou edukačních systémů je potřeba představit si edukační zázemí v Anglii, které je taktéž detailně popsáno. V závěru práce jsou popsány rozdíly a podobnosti u obou edukačních realit, které nastaly v důsledku koloniálního období.
