Events in Public Space. Definition of Theatrical Events in Public Space in the Context of Contemporary Czech Art Scene

Abstract:

Předkládaná práce se zabývá alternativním divadlem v České republice. Zaměřuje se na divadlo ve veřejném prostoru, na divadlo se sociálním přesahem a zejména na projekty site specific. V práci nejprve reflektuji vývoj moderní společnosti a umění od konce 19. století po současnost a zdůrazňuji ty události, které měly vliv na vývoj divadla ve veřejném prostoru. Dále definuji divadlo ve veřejném prostoru, divadlo se sociálním přesahem a uměleckou formu site specific. Uvedené definice ukazuji na příkladu projektu site specific Kladno Záporno vytvořeném v roce 2005 pro industriální areál Vojtěšské hutě na Kladně. Pro svou práci užívám zejména publikace Site specific a Divadlo v netradičním prostoru, performance a site specific: současné tendence. V rámci divadelního jednání v netradičním prostoru se dále zabývám divadelní interakcí a komunikací herce a diváka a herce a diváka s prostorem. Nakonec se zabývám sociálním dopadem site specific, které může být pokládáno ne jako umění, ale v první řadě jako sociální akt. Nakonec se dotýkám tématu divadelní antropologie, která je důležitá pro divadlo se sociálním přesahem.

Abstract:

This essay deals with alternative theater in the Czech Republic. It focuses on the theatre in public spaces, the theater of social overlap and in particular site-specific projects. First, I reflect the development of modern society and art from the 19th century to the present. I emhasize those events that have influenced the development of theater in public spaces. After, I define the theatre in the public spaces, theatre with social outreach and the art of site-specific. Those definitions demonstrate on the site-specific projekt called Kladno Záporno, which was created for Vojtěšská steelworks, an industrial area in Kladno city in year 2005. The publication I use especially for my work are Site specific and Theater in an unusual spaces, performances and site specific: the current trends. In my work I deal also with the theatrical interaction and communication between actor and spectator and between actor and spectator and the space. Then I focuse on the impact of site-specific, which can not be regarded as art, but primarily as a social act. Finally, I touch the subject theatrical anthropology, which is important for theatre with social outreach.
