Level of sexual dimorphism of human bones is a key factor in developing new, more accurate and widely applicable methods for sex estimation from skeletal remains. Pelvis is the most reliable bone for this estimation, but it is susceptible to be damaged in archaeological collections. Klíčovým faktorem při vyvíjení nových, přesnějších a šířeji aplikovatelných metod na odhad pohlaví z kosterních pozůstatků je míra sexuálního dimorfizmu použitých kostí. Nejspolehlivější výsledky přináší odhad pohlaví podle kosti pánevní, která se však v archeologických souborech často nezachová nepoškozena.
