Occupational therapy in persons with marfan syndrome

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce je zaměřena na osobu s Marfanovým syndromem a využití ergoterapeutické intervence. Hlavním cílem práce je zlepšit, popřípadě alespoň udržet kvalitu života s tímto onemocněním. Přehled teoretických poznatků obsahuje informace z literárních zdrojů o Marfanově syndromu. Teoretická část práce, je zaměřená na celkový přehled nejdůležitějších informací o Marfanově syndromu. Zahrnuje definici a projevy tohoto syndromu. Speciální část navazuje informacemi o ergoterapii a dalších terapiích využitých při získávání informací k této práci. Jedná se například o zaměření na jemnou motoriku, kognitivní funkce, senzorickou integraci a kompenzační pomůcky. Dále poohlédnutí na podpůrné metody v ergoterapii (Balance tutor, MABC-2 test) Hlavní praktická část mé bakalářské práce obsahuje intervenci s klientem od zjištění anamnézy až po závěrečné vyšetření. Nejdříve se zaměříme na kazuistiku klienta s Marfanovým syndromem a společně se vstupním ergoterapeutickým vyšetřením sestavíme krátkodobý ergoterapeutický plán, který následně zrealizujeme. Po dokončení terapií provedeme výstupní vyšetření, díky kterému zhodnotíme změnu stavu klienta a nastavíme dlouhodobý ergoterapeutický plán.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis focuses on a person with Marfan syndrome and use of therapeutic intervention. Main goal of the thesis is to improve, possibly at least preserve the quality of life with this disease. Overview of theoretical findings contains information from literary sources focused on Marfan syndrome. Theoretical part of the thesis focuses on overall overview of the most important information about Marfan syndrome. It includes definition and symptoms of this syndrome. Following the theoretical part is the special part, which continues with information about occupational therapy and other therapies used while gathering information for this thesis- such as: focus on fine motor skills, cognitive functions, sensory integration and compensatory aids. Furthermore, it contains a lookback at supportive methods in occupational therapy (Balance tutor, MABC-2 test). Main practical part of my bachelor's thesis contains interventions with a client from detection of the anamnesis to final examination. First, we will focus on case history of the client with Marfan syndrome and along with occupational therapy examination we will put together short-term plan, which will then be implemented. After finishing with the therapies, we will conduct final examination which will help us evaluate any changes in client's condition and set a long-term occupational therapy plan.
