František Vahala and his buildings in North Moravia

Abstract:

ABSTRAKT Cílem práce je představit život a dílo architekta Františka Vahaly s důrazem na nevýznamnější moravskoslezské objekty. Autor je řazen mezi představitele moderní architektury s tradičními formami klasicistní kompozice. Text je koncipován jako katalogový přehled staveb na severní Moravě, které vznikaly průběžně v rozmezí let 1924?1938 během jeho návratů do rodných Hustopečí nad Bečvou. Součástí práce je popis a zhodnocení staveb, neopomíjím ani objekt nerealizovaný. Záměrem je kompletně zmapovat a vytyčit přednosti velkých moravských staveb s důrazem na inspirační zdroj učitele Jana Kotěry, jehož míra ovlivnění je patrná téměř na všech vyprojektovaných pracích. Zmíněno je také formování umělecké osobnosti Františka Vahaly, vliv Kotěrovy školy a postupný profesní růst.

Abstract:

ABSTRAKT This thesis aims to introduce the life and work of František Vahala, an architect, with the emphasis on the most important Moravian-Silesian architectural objects. The author is classified as one of the representatives of modern architecture with traditional forms of classicist design. The text of this work is framed as a catalogue overview of buildings in the Northern Moravia which were built continuously in the years 1924?1935 during the author?s returns into his native village of Hustopeče nad Bečvou. It also contains the building description and evaluation. In addition, I do not ignore even unrealized objects. The goal of this thesis is to map completely and set the merits of big Moravian buildings with the emphasis on the source of the author?s inspiration, his teacher Jan Kotěra, whose degree of influence over František Vahala is obvious in almost all works designed by Vahala. My work also mentions the formation of Vahala?s artistic personality, the influence of Kotěra and Vahala?s gradual professional growing.
